Sedlec Ossuary - Sedlec, Czech Republic (Winter 2003)

This is a chandelier fashioned out of human bones from the days of the black plague. It's located in a church decorated entirely with said bones. This is not so much an artistic photo as it is a photo of an historical oddity. The chandelier is said to contain every bone from the body, although I doubt it contains inner ear bones (at least not visibly represented), patellas, carpals, tarsals, or any sesamoid bones from the big toe. I'd say it's not likely to have a hyoid bone present either.

Anyway, now that the reader is adequately impressed (wishful thinking on my part...) with my knowledge of the skeleton (you've been blinded with science), if he/she has a desire to visit this unusual location, it is within hiking distance of the old mining town of Kutna Hora. You can travel there by train from Prague in roughly 2 hours. Or you can visit it virtually
here. There is a quicktime tool you can use to see a couple of 360 degree panoramas of the interior.

I would say people probably do not get married in this church. It's not a very pleasant atmosphere to get married in, I don't think.
