Stone Pinnacle - Cesky Raj (Spring 2003)

This photo was taken in Cesky Raj (Czech Paradise). It was in an area similar to this that certain scenes in The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe were filmed. There are many spots in the northern Czech Republic that have incredible sandstone rock formations of a type that I haven't seen in any other country.

Speaking of rock formations, yesterday was another pleasant day in Joshua Tree spent bouldering and scrambling (safely, mind you). Scrambling in flip-flops, while commendable, is something I generally advise against though. And scrambling while narcoleptic is just short of insane.

what fun! did you get to spend the night? at night the coyotes surround the main campground just after sundown and begin to howl in unison. it's absolutely bone-chilling. don't you think that that desert is one of the most soul-cleansing places on earth?

I never have actually spent the night, although eventually I'll get around to it. I do believe it is a very soothing place though.
