River Scene - Prague (Spring 2003)

This is probably one of the most photographed scenes in Prague. I'm sure few of the photographs taken turn out all that well. I kind of like this shot though.

On another note, I'm a fan of lateral thinking puzzles. I found myself today, due to a number of circumstances, in a situation which I thought made for a great puzzle. So, keeping in mind that the man spoken of in the following puzzle was me today, here you go:

A man wearing nothing but long underwear and a pair of shorts got into a swimming pool. Why?

In case you're unfamiliar with lateral thinking puzzles, the format is for the solvers to ask yes/no questions, which will then be answered by me. We'll see how this goes. The answer to the puzzle is not such that you can know it without following a line of reasoning.

Was the pool part of a PT class?
Did the long underwear belong to this man? Did he get in by choice?

Was the man trying to save time/money on laundry?
Did the man want to go swimming, but the water was very cold so he wore extra layers?
Did the man intend to wear long underwear into the pool?

Was the pool inside?
Was he alone? If not alone, was he alone in the pool?
He didn't want to get in, but it was his choice, so there were negetive consequences of not getting in?

Were the shorts swimming shorts, or everyday shorts, or underwear shorts?
Did he put on the long underwear under the shorts?
Were the long underwear put on strictly for the pool event?
Did he leave the pool wearing exactly the same things?

Was the man in contact with the 2nd pair? Did the man have physical contact with someone else in the pool? Was swimming ever involved? Was role playing ever involved?

(I once had to jump in clothed and remove items, hence the ?) Was the man in the pool for a long time, over 10 min? Will the man to repeat this experience again?

Was the man practicing Kayak rollovers?

The man was not practicing Kayak rollovers, although that was the initial intent. Very good guess. I went to the pool to practice rollovers but only ended up paddling around the pool for a while. The rollovers will come in the future, when I have some goggles and noseplugs to protect my contacts and lungs.

Super! For some reason your last post regarding that "The man will probably repeat this experience again" triggered the memory of you doing this several years ago in our pool. In my mind "will probably repeat" suggested the man may have previously done this same thing although without the long underware. So perhaps I had a slight advantage on this one.

In case anybody wondered about the long underwear being both over and under the shorts, I was wearing both top and bottom portions of long underwear. The top came down over the shorts, while the bottoms were under the shorts. The top portion was also borrowed, which was why I both was and wasn't wearing my own.
