- Name: An Enlightened Fellow
I am one who seeks to understand what it means to be human on this planet. I believe part of the answer is in striving to inspire others toward that goal.

Kite flying is probably more of an art then sport in my perception. In South Asia, Basant festival is held every year to mark the start of Spring. However, in the past few years, this has become very controversial as the number of fatalities has increased significantly. Has anything like this happened in your country?
Well, there are many kite festivals here, although I don't think we have too many, if any, fatalities from them. What are people doing with kites that would cause a fatality?
We do have some power kites people use to kite surf or drag themselves along the ground, but I haven't heard of many serious injuries.
A special kind of string called ‘dour’ is used for flying kites which is prepared with certain chemicals that make it very sharp. The basant festival is about flying kites and cutting kites of others. The one who makes the most kill in this way is the winner. Unfortunately the dour is making more kills on the ground as people generally lose their fingers while flying kites and recently, some people’s throats were cut as well who lost their lives as a result. Our government is now seeking to ban the festival but people in general are very resistant to the idea.
